The Caribbean Standard

for Alternative Citizenship

Antigua and Barbuda’s Citizenship by Investment Programme has been operating since 2013, making it one of the most established in the Caribbean. It is administered by the government’s Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) — a dedicated body with a rigorous due diligence standard and a track record of transparent, professional processing that has maintained the passport’s international standing across more than a decade.

Global Citizenship Partners has been a licensed authorised representative of this programme since its inception. Our depth of experience — with the CIU, with approved developers, and with the full range of applicant circumstances — means your application is in exceptionally capable hands.

Investment Options

Four Approved Investment Pathways

The most straightforward and widely used option. A one-time, non-refundable contribution to a government-administered fund. The single USD 230,000 contribution covers the principal applicant and immediate family — spouse, dependent children, and dependent parents over 55 — with no additional NDF contribution required for family members.

National Development Fund (NDF)

USD 230,00

Approved Real Estate

USD 300,00

Purchase of a government-approved property at a minimum value of USD 300,000, held for five years. The only pathway through which a portion of the investment can potentially be recovered at sale. GCP partners have direct knowledge of approved developments with genuine investment merit and potential rental yields of approximately 4%.

Business Investment

USD 1.5M / USD 5M

Two routes: a single investor at minimum USD 1,500,000 in an approved business, or a joint investment of at least USD 5,000,000 shared between two or more investors, with each contributing at least USD 400,000. Suited to clients establishing a commercial presence in Antigua or seeking alignment with the Antiguan business environment.

UWI Development Fund

USD 260,00

Available for families of six or more. Combines the citizenship contribution with a one-year tuition scholarship at a UWI campus for one family member. At USD 260,000 inclusive of base processing fees, exceptional value for larger families.

Children of any age who are physically or mentally dependent

Parents or grandparents aged 55 and over who are financially dependent

The Antigua and Barbuda passport is issued with a five-year validity and is renewable subject to the holder having spent at least five days in Antigua and Barbuda during that period.

The Process

Five Steps from Consultation to Citizenship

1

Initial Consultation

Confidential assessment of your eligibility, family circumstances, and the most suitable investment option. No charge, no obligation.

2

Document Preparation

We compile your application documents, certify and notarise where required, and prepare the complete submission package.

3

Application Submission

GCP submits your application to the CIU on your behalf. We manage all correspondence throughout the review period.

4

Approval in Principle

The CIU conducts its due diligence and issues approval in principle. At this point the investment is made and government fees settled.

5

Citizenship & Passport

Citizenship documents are issued and passport applications processed. Most clients receive their passport within 3–4 months of submission.

Typical Timeline

Most clients reach submission within 6–8 weeks of their initial consultation. We handle all communication with the CIU throughout the process — you will always know where your application stands.

About the Country

Antigua & Barbuda

A Caribbean Nation With Global Standing

Antigua and Barbuda is a sovereign twin-island nation in the Eastern Caribbean, with a population of approximately 100,000 and a stable parliamentary democracy that has operated continuously since independence in 1981. The capital, St. John’s, is home to the Citizenship by Investment Unit and serves as the administrative and commercial heart of the island.

The country’s economy is anchored by tourism, financial services, and international business. English is the official language. The Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD) is the currency, pegged to the US Dollar at a fixed rate since 1976. Antigua and Barbuda is a member of the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Nations, CARICOM, and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States.

The Antigua and Barbuda passport is widely respected internationally — a product of the country’s consistent diplomatic standing and the CIU’s rigorous due diligence standards. Holders travel visa-free or visa-on-arrival to more than 150 countries, including the United Kingdom, the full Schengen Area, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Why It Matters:

A citizenship programme is only as strong as the country behind it. Antigua and Barbuda’s long-standing democratic institutions, international memberships, and CIU’s decade-plus track record give its citizenship programme a stability and international credibility that newer programmes cannot yet match.
